Exploring the Natural Beauty of Redmond Watershed Preserve in Redmond, WA

Redmond Watershed Preserve is a peaceful, picturesque green space in the heart of Redmond, Washington. Flanked by the famous Marymoor Park on one side and the Sammamish River on the other, Redmond Watershed Preserve provides a beautiful backdrop for outdoor recreation and environmental education. Redmond Watershed Preserve consists of 1,400 acres of protected land owned and managed by King County, Washington. It is part of the Snoqualmie Valley, a 54.4-mile-long river valley located in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains. It's an important area for salmon and aquatic species. Redmond Watershed Preserve is part of a virtual regional network of conservation and protected lands, including Saint Edward State Park. Careful preservation and stewardship of the watershed have been a history in the region. In the early 1900s, the land was part of the Cottage Hill Fruit Farm, owned and operated by early settlers. In 1917, the family sold the property to King County for Redmond Watershed Preserve.

 

Redmond Watershed Preserve features a variety of trails, allowing hikers, bikers, horseback riders, and skiers to explore the area year-round. The trails are divided into loops and spurs, each with unique terrain and views. From easy paths with level terrain and gentle slopes to more challenging routes with steep hills, Redmond Watershed Preserve has something to offer all levels of nature enthusiasts.

The preserve is also an excellent spot for outdoor educational activities. Several volunteer-led education programs focus on ecology, bird watching, and other natural sciences. The preserve also has several regularly scheduled events, ranging from bird walks to plant species identification.
